Small Middle School and ACCESS Collaborate

The Austin Children’s Museum and Small Middle School teacher David Matthews are teaming up to produce an exhibit on a mysterious collection of Mexican masks. These 29 masks have been on display at the museum since it began, but there is actually very little known about them. The team of primarily 6th grade students will be trained in material culture and artifact analysis under the auspices of ACCESS. Their research will take them to exotic environments (local museums) featuring fascinating artifacts. Experts will visit and advise the team as they attempt to reveal the mysteries within the masks.
